Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician

Contract Details

1. Duration: 6 Months
2. Pay Range: $20 - $24/hr
3. Work Type: Onsite, 3rd Shift
4. Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Job Description

The Specimen Processing Technician supports the Specimen Processing Department by performing various functions such as data entry, specimen pickup and delivery, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting. The role requires accuracy, confidence, and timeliness. Good organizational skills and the ability to learn about different specimen types and compliance regulations are essential. Flexibility is important due to the dynamic nature of the job, including working nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. The technician must work in a biohazard environment, practice safety, and communicate effectively with staff. Maintaining a clean work area and demonstrating interpersonal skills are also required.

Minimum Education and Knowledge

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills; knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing is preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required; laboratory experience is a plus
• Medical background and hospital laboratory experience are advantageous but not mandatory
• Experience in a production environment is preferred
