Job summary

Labcorp is hiring a Specimen Processor for our RTP, NC team. The role involves preparing and routing laboratory specimens, accurately labeling and documenting items, and ensuring timely data entry.

The schedule is Tue–Sat, 8:30am–5:00pm, with potential overtime depending on business needs. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED; preferred candidates have 3 months of specimen processing or medical/lab experience and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience is preferred.
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience is preferred.
• Comfortability with handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times.
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens
