Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processing Team Lead in Holyoke, MA to supervise daily laboratory specimen handling and ensure quality and efficiency within our department. This role requires strong leadership and a focus on process improvements.

The position schedules Monday through Friday, 7:00 pm–3:30 am with weekend and holiday on-call rotation. A HS diploma and 3+ years in lab operations are required; associate degree and leadership experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 3+ years experience in lab, accessioning, data entry or production.
• Associate’s degree or higher preferred; recent leadership experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the department.
• Lead the team in daily processes and procedures.
• Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Oversee routing of specimens to prep areas.
• Encourage process improvements and best practices.
• Perform quality assurance checks for efficiency and accuracy.
• Resolve production errors as directed by management.
• Research and escalate production issues as needed.
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements.
• Enforce and manage policies and procedures.
• Perform administrative duties as needed.

Job Summary

Work Schedule

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the department.
• Help lead the team in their daily processes and procedures.
• Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Oversee routing of specimens to their respective prep areas.
• Encourage process improvements and best practices.
• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Resolve any production errors as requested by management.
• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary.
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements.
• Responsible for enforcing and managing policies and procedures.
• Perform administrative duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 3 years or more experience in lab, accessioning, data entry or production.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree.
• 4 years or more experience working in a clinical laboratory.
• 2 years or more experience as a people leader.

Job Additional Standards

• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
• Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Pay Range

$19.00 – $23.00 per hour.

Employees scheduled 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees scheduled less than 20 hours, casual, intern, and temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
