Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a semi-technical Lab Assistant who will service several functions in the clinical laboratory. Responsibilities include ensuring the validity and integrity of clinical specimens, executing doctors’ orders, and handling and processing various specimen types in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and offers opportunities to work with multiple departments, maintaining accurate records and complying with patient safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of continuous employment as a lab assistant preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive and distribute all samples collected by nursing, phlebotomy, and outpatient drawing areas.
• Maintain communication with phlebotomists and front desk for add-ons and label reprints.
• Deal with other hospital departments to resolve sample problems with phlebotomy and nursing.
• Handle and process surgical and research samples, CSF, urine samples, cord bloods, and PKU samples.
• Maintain QA records and temperature logs for the department.
• Assist in clarifying doctor orders with floor staff and outside locations.
