Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience equivalent to an Accessioning Technician preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office programs.
• Ability, on a consistent basis, to sit during shift, excluding meal and rest period.
• Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens for testing (entry-level role)
• Remains informed of procedure changes pertaining to sample processing
• Performs quality assurance checks of incoming or outgoing samples
• Returns slides and blocks to clients
• Utilize chain of custody logs for slides and blocks, ensure appropriate chain of custody
• Oversee Q/C workflow and reconciliation of blocks and the block log
• Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take corrective action
• Follow department procedures including specimen routing and handling; communicate missing blocks/slides
• Works with other departments to resolve problems
