Job summary

SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is seeking a Specimen Courier to transport laboratory specimens between SLUH and Cardinal Glennon. The role also supports laboratory operations, processes specimens, answers phone inquiries, and prepares specimens for testing.

The ideal candidate will have basic computer skills and experience in healthcare, specimen handling, or customer service, with knowledge of specimen workflows and specimen integrity.

Qualifications

• Basic computer proficiency with the ability to learn and utilize Epic and other electronic medical record systems.
• Previous laboratory, specimen handling, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred, with knowledge of specimen processing workflows and specimen integrity best practices.

Responsibilities

• Transport specimens between SLUH and Cardinal Glennon promptly.
• Assist with laboratory operations, including specimen processing.
• Answer telephone inquiries related to specimens.
• Prepare and sort specimens for testing.
• Maintain specimen integrity and proper handling.
• Support infection control and safety guidelines.
