Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Laboratory Aide II to support specimen accessioning, transport, and customer service across hospital and campus lab locations.

You will assist pathologists and ensure accurate data entry in the HIS system, while maintaining safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include handling specimens, preparing send-outs to reference laboratories, and training new staff as part of a collaborative laboratory team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience with accessioning and specimen transport is a plus.
• Ability to assist pathologists and perform batch handling in a clinical lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Accession and transport specimens to testing areas; manage registration and entry in HIS.
• Operate centrifuge per procedure and maintain equipment.
• Order supplies and manage waste disposal per policy.
• Label specimens with barcodes; prepare complex send-outs to reference labs.
• Register patient demographics and insurance information; troubleshoot registration issues.
• Assist pathologists with onsite procedures and specimen preparation.
• Coordinate training and onboarding for new staff as needed.
• Communicate with other hospital departments professionally; perform related duties.
