Job summary

Gradient Inc is hiring a Full-time Specimen Collection Technician to join our team. You’ll collect drug and alcohol specimens from drivers with accuracy, care, and integrity, following procedures and maintaining site operations.

The role covers front-desk tasks, appointment scheduling, invoicing, and keeping two locations (Clackamas & Jubitz) organized. Requirements include a high school diploma, 2+ years in customer service, proficiency with Microsoft Office, a valid driver’s license, and the

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years in customer service or a customer-facing administrative role
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new software systems
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen, including THC
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Check in donors, verify identification, explain the collection process, and ensure professionalism and discretion
• Conduct collections of urine, saliva, hair, and breath specimens with strict chain-of-custody
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage front-desk duties between collections
• Process invoices and collect payment for services
• Maintain organized, stocked, and inspection-ready collection sites at both locations
• Coordinate with the team during high-volume periods and assist where needed

Gradient is hiring a Full-time Specimen Collection Technician to join our team!

Key Details

• Pay: $19.73/hour
• Location: You will rotate between our Clackamas and Jubitz (N. PDX) locations
• Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8 am – 5 pm (with flexibility to work outside of these hours as needed)
  • Must be available to work 1-2 Saturday shifts/month, 8 am – 2 pm

What You’ll Do

As a Specimen Collection Technician, you'll collect drug and alcohol specimens from drivers with accuracy, care, and integrity. This role is about compliance: following procedures, treating participants professionally, and ensuring smooth site operations. In addition to the collection process, this role will support business operations through various administrative tasks. Here's what your day may look like:

• Check in donors, verify identification, explain the collection process, and ensure each person is treated with professionalism and discretion

• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage front-desk responsibilities between collections
• Process invoices and collect payment for services
• Maintain organized, stocked, and inspection-ready collection sites at both locations
• Coordinate with the team during high-volume periods and step in where needed

What We’re Looking For

No medical background required. Our onboarding program provides all the training you need to step into this role with confidence. You do need to be someone who follows procedure precisely, communicates clearly under pressure, and understands that the integrity of each collection matters - to the participant, the employer, and to public safety.
