Job summary

Westfield in Alpharetta, GA seeks a Specialty Technical Assistant/Jr. Underwriting Assistant to support the E&S Casualty Team. You will review transactions for completeness and accuracy, assist with submissions, rating, and policy construction, and maintain robust correspondence with internal and external partners.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience, strong MS Office and Excel skills, and onsite work four days per week with one day of remote work.

• Proficient in MS Office, with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel.
• ImageRight experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze incoming transactions and related information for completeness, accuracy and quality.
• Process Excess Casualty new business submissions, renewal submissions and endorsements including rating and policy construction.
• Ensure adherence to department processing guidelines and procedures for accuracy and improvements.
• Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses to service inquiries.
• Maintain all correspondence with internal and external customers including daily diaries on pending transactions.
• Comply with state rules and regulations related to cancellations and reinstatements.
• Gather underwriting information such as experience reports, audits, loss control, loss runs, MVRs, and FEINs.
• Update internal reports based on manager discretion.
• Participate in peer review and quality control for teams as needed.
• Contribute to special projects and Home Office initiatives as required.
• Demonstrate understanding of the Excess Casualty product.
• Develop rapport with business partners, underwriters, agents and colleagues by phone, email or in person.
• Prioritize competing demands to meet time constraints in a high-volume environment.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
• Proficient in using online references and multiple electronic systems.
• Work effectively in a team and meet multiple deadlines.
• Self-starter with a drive for independent learning and research.
• Review and provide feedback on quality reviews for team members as required.

Experienced Technical Assistant/Jr. Underwriting Assistant supporting Westfield Specialty Insurance's growing E&S Casualty Team.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze incoming transactions and related information for completeness accuracy and quality.

Excess Casualty new business submissions, renewal submissions and endorsements processing including rating, policy construction and assembly in a timely and accurate manner.

Regularly reviews and adheres to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements.

Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries.

Maintain all correspondence activity with internal and external customers including daily diaries on pending transactions.

Compliance with state rules and regulations relative to cancellations and reinstatements.

Gathering and analyze underwriting information including experience reports, final audits, loss control reports, financial reports, loss runs, MVRs, and FEINs.

Ability to manage internal report updates based on manager discretion.

Participates in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed.

Special projects, including participation of Home Office projects, as needed.

Understanding of the Excess Casualty Product.

Strong comfort level with developing rapport with business partners, underwriters, agents and co-workers by phone, email or in person.
