Job summary

MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas is seeking an on-call Specialty Steward for The Cosmopolitan to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned kitchen equipment and work areas, ensuring they meet company standards and health regulations.

Ideal candidates bring 6+ months of stewarding experience (or Culinary Training Academy certification), strong English communication, and the ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned equipment and work areas.
• Scrape, wash, rinse, sanitize, and air-dry pots and pans and return them to storage.
• Wash baseboards, floor drains, sinks, tables, and cutting boards; mop floors and clean equipment.
• Remove trash and waste; assist with biohazard cleanup if needed.
• Maintain kitchen inventories and restock supplies.
• Polish equipment as required.
• Comply with SNHD, OSHA, and Fire Department regulations.
• Operate large cleaning and equipment machines as needed.
• Report equipment issues to supervision.

THE JOB:

As an on-call Specialty Steward at The Cosmopolitan, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned equipment and work areas to ensure they meet company standards and operational requirements.

THE STARTING RATE:

$21.9787 hourly

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Maintain chemical detergents; scrape, wash, rinse, sanitize, and air-dry pots and pans, then return them to the appropriate storage location as needed

• Wash baseboards, floor drains, hand sinks, tables, and cutting boards; sweep and mop floors; clean floor mats; and clean kitchen equipment, including but not limited to dish machines, ice machines, pot machines, prep tables, hot boxes, and refrigerators

• Separate and remove trash, garbage, ash, and grease, and place them in designated containers; may assist with biohazard cleanup

• Maintain kitchen inventories and restock supplies as needed

• Polish equipment as needed

• Comply with regulatory requirements and departmental and property policies and procedures, including those established by the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD), OSHA, and the Fire Department

• Operate large electronic or gas-powered equipment, including but not limited to ride-on floor scrubbers, pallet jacks, forklifts, trucks, and power washers

• Complete all required training, including but not limited to health and safety training, as mandated by the company, department, or governing agencies (e.g., Health District)

• Report equipment issues and maintenance concerns to the direct supervisor

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• 6+ months of prior relevant stewarding experience or comparable experience, including Culinary Training Academy certification

• Effectively communicate in English, both oral and written forms

• Work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
