1st Pet Veterinary Centers -Chandler is seeking a Specialty Float Veterinary Assistant to support Internal Medicine and Surgery teams in Chandler, AZ. This role offers a dynamic day with the ability to shift between departments and contribute to high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will assist veterinarians and technicians across procedures, handle animals safely, support anesthesia prep and recovery, and help maintain clean, efficient surgical suites in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary assistant experience required (specialty or ER experience strongly preferred)
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Positive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset
• Willingness to learn and adapt across multiple specialty services

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and technicians with patient care across Internal Medicine and Surgery
• Prepare patients for exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures
• Assist with safe and effective animal handling and restraint (fear-free techniques encouraged)
• Assist with anesthesia preparation and patient recovery under supervision
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments following hospital protocols
• Turn over (flip) surgical suites efficiently between procedures to maintain workflow and readiness
• Maintain clean, organized treatment and procedure areas
• Stock and prepare supplies to support daily operations
• Assist with diagnostics (lab work, imaging support, sample collection as directed)
• Help manage patient flow between departments to maximize efficiency
• Step in where needed to support the team during high-volume periods
