Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. They prepare patients for oral examinations, assist dental professionals, and work effectively with co-workers, patients, and front office staff. A successful dental assistant actively listens, keeps commitments, shares ideas constructively, and addresses problems to find practical solutions.
If assigned within specialty areas such as Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, or Pediatric Dentistry, they will primarily support clinicians within that specialty and may require additional training.
