Job summary

Children's of Alabama in Birmingham is seeking a Specialty Clinic Nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for pediatric patients and their families in an outpatient GI setting.

The role is full-time, day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with collaboration across Pediatric GI, Hepatology and Nutrition teams under the supervision of the attending physician.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Outpatient pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients and families in outpatient pediatric GI clinic.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in Pediatric GI, Hepatology, and Nutrition under physician supervision.
• Provide specialized, patient-centered care and education in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Division at Children's of Alabama provides comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation and management of pediatric gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional problems. These may include conditions such as liver disease, feeding disorders, eosinophilic esophagitis, functional GI disorders, intestinal rehabilitation, and inflammatory bowel disease. Academic Fellows, Residents and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners also provide world-class, disease-specific care in this area under the supervision of the attending MD. Multidisciplinary patient-centered care is the focus of the Division. Close interaction with Pediatric Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Anesthesiology and Nutrition services provide ample opportunity for optimizing patient care.
