Description

CULTURE:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our specialty clinic team. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in supporting physicians and clinical staff by performing both administrative and clinical tasks. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of patient care protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, specialty-specific environment. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organized, and capable of maintaining a high standard of care for our diverse patient population.

The Care Coordinator is to coordinate team-based care to provide health services to individuals, through effective partnerships with patients, their caregivers/families, community resources, and their physician. Facilitates a shared goal model within and across settings to achieve coordinated high-quality care.

Emphasis on patient care coordination, communication with other facility physicians, coordination of scheduling appointments with other facilities and other facility providers, and required testing a needed.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, updating medical histories, and assisting with procedures
  • Coordinate patient flow and assist in exam rooms, ensuring efficient operation and minimal wait times
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician
  • Perform specialty-specific procedures and testing as required (e.g., EKGs, spirometry, allergy testing, etc.)
  • Manage administrative duties including scheduling appointments, handling patient communications, and maintaining accurate records
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for use
  • Support patient education and provide post-visit instructions
  • Adhere to all clinic protocols, HIPAA guidelines, and infection control standards

*In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon MMH needs or requirements.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess a certification of the above identified entities or graduate from accredited medical assistant program.
  • Previous experience in a specialty clinic setting is highly desirable
  • Must be familiar in the use of equipment used in the physician’s office.
  • One year of previous experience in a physician’s office or medical environment is preferred, will consider the right candidate who successfully graduates from an above specified program or with specified licensures.
  • Must successfully complete a healthcare provider BLS course.

MA:To include but not limited to a certified medical assistant preforming under their certification, or CNA, NA, or EMT working in accordance to the Rule 800 law.

Technical Skills:

  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Must have the visual and auditoria ability to assess patient conditions, the ability to input patient assessment and vital data into EMR, and the ability to verbally communicate with patients, staff, physician and families.

Other qualifications/certificate/license:

  • Requires current BLS certification.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
