Cake Decorator - Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and ring out customers politely.
2. Accurately record customer orders and requests for cakes and bakery items.
3. Process purchases quickly and accurately using electronic registers, scanners, and scales.
4. Review the department communication board daily for updates and follow store policies, including sampling programs and announcements.
5. Ice and decorate cakes and pastries per customer and company specifications.
6. Record and report out-of-stock conditions and times to the department manager.
7. Stock display cases and tables throughout the store.

Supervision

Reports directly to the Bakery Manager.

Qualifications

1. Basic mathematics skills.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
3. Prior supervisory experience.
4. Experience with bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, fryers, and scales.

Specific Tasks

1. Lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
2. Maintain signage and pricing in departmental areas.
3. Handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, and vouchers accurately.
4. Respond promptly and politely to questions from customers, coworkers, and vendors.
5. Use store communication systems properly.
6. Check case and cooler temperatures four times daily, recording each check.

Work Environment

Inside environment with temperature and humidity transitions, including backdoor, cooler, and freezer areas. All employees must adhere to company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities and duties may vary reasonably.
