GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Specialty Beauty Advisor – Clinique (SBA – Clinique) is responsible for maximizing sales of the Clinique brand (including cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to identify their needs, assisting in product selection and purchase, and maintaining store standards such as cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and Clinique, supporting the Experience Manager through performance, people, and process focus. This role requires a passion for beauty, excellent guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge effectively.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The SBA - Clinique demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and responsibilities, as well as other assigned projects:
Performance
- Meet or exceed Clinique sales and clientele goals, contributing to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and shrink reduction.
- Provide exceptional service by greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, offering samples, and recommending products or services.
- Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
- Book appointments and support in-store events to enhance guest experience and meet sales targets.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through active contact and follow-up.
- Inform guests of current promotions, events, and services.
- Stay informed about new and existing products and trends to better serve guests.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
People
- Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and app benefits.
- Maintain relationships with Clinique brand partners through training and events.
- Collaborate with store team members to grow the business.
- Participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
Process
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow the dress code, including wearing brand assets as directed.
- Keep work areas replenished, signed, and organized; maintain hygiene standards for testers.
- Ensure store standards for merchandise, testers, cleanliness, and operational procedures.
- Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, displays, inventory, and shipment processing.
- Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school diploma preferred.
- Cosmetology or demonstrator license required if mandated by state law.
Experience
- Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.
Skills
- Strong competency in sales, product knowledge, and service.
- Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive handling of guest concerns and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Attend brand-sponsored training sessions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent mobility, standing, bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs.
- Continuous coordination and object manipulation during shift.
