Job summary

Seattle Parks and Recreation is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator to lead specialized programs for youth and adults with disabilities. You will oversee year-round activities, collaborate with partners, and ensure safe, accessible experiences.

This role requires supervising staff, coordinating budgets, developing life skills through recreation, and delivering high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in Recreation Program Administration or related field and one year of experience developing and coordinating recreation programs.
  • Two years of supervision experience and coordination of recreation programs for youth, teens, and adults with disabilities.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities in a recreation or educational setting.
  • Strong customer service and written/oral communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and MS Outlook; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend new programming ideas or improvements to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Secure and maintain all materials and equipment for assigned programs.
  • Supervise program participants and maintain safety and order.
  • Monitor volunteers, coaches, attendants, and officials.
  • Respond to comments, questions, and complaints from participants.
  • Observe safety precautions and render routine first aid for minor injuries.
  • Maintain attendance records and prepare weekly activity reports.
  • Prepare promotional materials such as brochures and posters.
  • Develop city-wide programs and coordinate scheduling for a section.
  • Coordinate special facility use with public groups and City departments.
  • Develop and monitor budgets for applicable recreation programs.
  • Recruit, train and evaluate staff; assist with selections.
  • Organize advisory council activities and budget expenditures.
  • Survey participants, analyze data, and revise programs as needed.
  • Provide expertise in facility and program development and improvements.
