Job summary

Iron Mountain Destruction Technician position involves securely processing and destroying materials delivered to the production facility. You will sort material, operate forklifts and other machinery, and assist the production supervisor with safety and security tasks.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pound containers and empty contents.
  • Ability to lift heavy bags, push rolling carts and pull containers.
  • Must follow directions and safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate machinery safely.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Experience in basic machine maintenance is preferred.
  • Forklift/Bobcat experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Empty collected material from containers and manage bags and payloads.
  • Sort material by grade and separate/discard rubbish.
  • Prepare for recycle or discard retired shred containers.
  • Collaborate with team members.
  • Perform emergency equipment repairs.
  • Clean facility and containers.
  • Maintain security of material and trucks.
  • Load or unload trailers as necessary.
  • Ensure safe machine operation.
  • Perform all physical tasks as required.
  • Assist with additional office duties as requested.

Destruction Technicians serve customers by accurately processing and destroying all materials delivered to the production facility. They sort material and operate forklifts and other machinery. These critical team members maintain the facility, empty trash, bale corrugated material and assist the production supervisor with other necessary duties. They perform each and every task with the utmost regard for safety and security. The DTs collaborate with team members to enable success for all.

Responsibilities:

  • E mpty collected material from containers; cut open bags, dump payloads, empty roll-arounds
  • Sort material by grade; separate and discard rubbish
  • Prepare for recycle or discard retired shred containers
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Perform emergency equipment repairs
  • Clean facility and containers
  • Maintain strict security of material and trucks
  • Load trailers or unload trailers as necessary
  • Ensure safe machine operation
  • Perform all physical tasks without assistance
  • Additional office duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills and Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pound containers and empty contents
  • Ability to lift heavy bags, push rolling carts and pull two- and four-wheeled containers
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to safely operate machinery
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience in basic machine maintenance preferred
  • Experience shredding or recycling operations/warehousing environment is preferred
  • Forklift and Bobcat experience is preferred
