Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is hiring a Specialist Software Engineer at its Information Technology department, located at 2 Broadway, New York. The role includes designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software throughout the development lifecycle, with responsibilities spanning project management and troubleshooting.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience, a BA/BS, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Certified Software Engineer or equivalent and Agile Project Management are preferred.
• Experience with System Development Life Cycle methodologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defines and manages scoping and requirements with traceability to source.
• Designs, codes, verifies, tests, and maintains complex programs and integration software services.
• Develops and executes test plans and scalable automated tests.
• Develops acceptance criteria for functional and non-functional requirements.
• Qualifies user experiences and ensures security, usability, and accessibility requirements.
• Maintains operational documentation and configuration management.
