Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Specialist Project Controls to oversee budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting for Real Estate and Industrial Development metrics. The role supports revenue targets through detailed financial analysis, data management, and account reconciliation.

You will monitor performance against budgets, develop budgets and schedules, and ensure timely reporting. Strong SAP/BPC/Excel skills and at least 5 years in related fields are required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or Project Management is considered a strong asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in financial planning, accounting, engineering, project management, project controls, construction, and railway operations.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and align on common objectives.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, including investment returns, operating margins, accounting reconciliation, and investment evaluation.
  • Proficiency in SAP, BPC, and Excel, including accurate data entry, data queries, and analysis of large data sets.
  • Experience with project scoping, planning, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, and portfolio execution.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage deadlines, and deliver work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic environment.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Specialist Project Controls is Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting Real Estate and Industrial Development performance metrics. Supports revenue, capital, and expense targets through project tracking, financial analysis, reporting, data management, and account reconciliation.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
