Penn State Health - Hershey Medical Center is hiring a Specialist (Part-time) in Utilization Management in Hershey, PA. The role reviews EMR documentation to certify admissions and oversees concurrent stay reviews while maintaining CMS compliance.

This position requires a Nursing degree (BSN or MSN), 3+ years of hospital experience, and an active RN license. Weekend shift with hours 7:30a–5:30p, part-time 0.50 FTE at Hershey Medical Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing required.
• Three (3) years advanced clinical experience in a hospital setting required.
• Current RN license in state of employment or multi-state license permitting practice in PA.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation in EMR to certify admission.
• Perform concurrent/continued stay reviews as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation for Utilization Management.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for the review of clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), comparing it to the nationally accepted and evidence-based criteria to certify an admission to the facility, and for concurrent/continued stay review as appropriate. Also responsible for maintaining compliance with the CMS Conditions of Participation for Utilization Management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing required.

• Three (3) years advanced clinical experience in a hospital setting required.

• Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Financial Counseling experience preferred.
