Job summary

AIT Worldwide Logistics, Inc. in Chicago, IL, seeks a Specialist Ocean Freight to ensure smooth export operations and compliant processes for assigned customers. You will handle related administrative tasks and support customers across the export workflow.

The role requires 1–3 years in ocean freight forwarding, strong PC skills, and experience with freight forwarding software. English fluency and Italian are mandatory. Hybrid work model with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of ocean freight forwarding experience.
• University degree is a plus.
• Fluent English; Italian language skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth and on-time export shipments.
• Optimize and secure documentation of procedures.
• Support and advise customers.
• Carry out customs clearance.
• Handle correspondence with customers, agents and service providers.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on the quotation process.
• Conduct sales negotiations.
• Process invoices to customers.
• Monitor meetings and deadlines.
• Invoicing.
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments per applicable laws; prepare Letters of Credit, B/Ls, delivery bills and customs documents.

Overview

As Specialist Ocean Freight, you will ensure the smooth and compliant flow of export operations for assigned customers while implementing customer‑specific processes and procedures. You will also be responsible for handling all related administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the smooth and on time processing of export shipments
• Optimizing and securing the documentation of procedures and processes
• Supporting and Advising customers
• Carrying out customs clearance
• Handling correspondence with customers, agents, and service providers
• Preparation of quotation and follow‑up of the quotation process
• Conducting sales negotiations
• Securing and processing invoices to customers
• Monitoring of meetings and deadlines
• Invoicing
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable)Preparation of Letters ofcredit compliant, Bill of Landings, delivery bills, customs documents, etc

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of working experience in ocean freight forwarding
• University degree (nice to have)
• Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications) preferred
• Experience in the use of a freight forwarding software
• Fluent oral and written English and communicative Italian is a must
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization, strong cultural sensitivity, and ability to build up relationship
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently

• According to the CCNL Logistica Trasporto Merci e Spedizione the minimum salary for this position at level 3 is EUR 1.916,84 gross per month. The final offer will depend on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills
