Job summary

Tarrant County College Southeast Campus is seeking a part-time Specialist, Library to support circulation and materials management in the campus library. The role requires delivering courteous service to students and staff while maintaining accurate records and assisting with inquiries.

The position features evening hours, a maximum of 19.5 hours per week, and a schedule that can change with departmental needs; candidate must be able to work Monday through Wednesday and certain Thursday shifts.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 60 college hours completed and one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: one year of frontline customer service at a college/university.

  • Performs moderately complex library work.
  • Provides circulation services including organization of library materials.
  • Maintains circulation records and prepares reports.
  • Organizes reserve items.

Compensation Details: Starting Pay - $18.22
Work Hours: Monday - Wednesday 4:00pm - 9:00pm, Thursday4:30pm - 9:00pm; Flexibility is required as the schedule is subjectto change based on department needs.
Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remotework

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for providing circulation support serviceswithin the campus library.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Performs library work of a moderately complex nature
  • Provides circulation services including organization of librarymaterials
  • Maintains circulation records and prepares reports asnecessary
  • Organizes reserve items
  • Answers moderately complex questions, refers questions to alibrarian, when appropriate
  • Locates materials including databases and electronic resourcesfor students and faculty
  • Provides check in and checkout services as well as properlyshelving library materials
  • Effectively uses an automated circulation system
  • Develops an extensive working knowledge of library services,policies and practices; and ensures compliance with all applicablelaws, policies, and procedures
  • Communicates library services, policies and practices tostudents, faculty and staff
  • Performs advanced library operational skills
  • Manages technical matters and human relations issues
  • Maintains operational reports and makes reports asrequested
Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
  • Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege
Supervision

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree or sixty (60) college hours completed and one(1) year's working experience related to the Essential PerformanceRequirements; or equivalent combination of education and workingexperience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one (1) year's working experience at acollege/university related to the Essential PerformanceRequirements
  • At least one (1) year's working experience providing frontlinecustomer service
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of library policies and procedures
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonalrelationships
  • Skilled using computerized applications and enterprise systems,including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentationsoftware
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly whileexhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to enthusiastically communicate with and relate to thecommunity college student
  • Ability to work with little supervision and apply judgment inevaluating alternatives

While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanicalparts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
