Job summary

Fulton Schools is seeking a qualified accounting professional to manage cost center and Student Activity Fund accounting. The role includes training principals and bookkeepers, providing ongoing support, and ensuring accurate monthly reports and year-end closings within a school district setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide initial training for principals and bookkeepers.
• Develop and deliver periodic workshops for applicable staff.
• Provide ongoing accounting support to principals, bookkeepers and staff, including site visits.
• Monitor Student Activity Fund financial reports monthly and coordinate corrective actions.
• Assist with year-end closing of Student Activity Fund records.
• Prepare annual reports on Student Activity Funds for state reporting and external audits.
• Maintain the Student Activity Fund Accounting Procedures Manual.
• Maintain and/or implement Student Activity Fund accounting software.
• Prepare Form 1099s for schools annually.
• Perform monthly Student Activity Fund bank reconciliations.
• Support day-to-day operations including phone, mail, filing, and training materials.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Student Activity Funds and cost center accounting.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the administrator.

Summary Performs a wide range of professional work in the specialized areas of cost center and Student Activity Fund accounting Essential Duties

• Provides initial training of new principals and bookkeepers
• Develops and provides periodic training workshops for applicable school personnel
• Provides ongoing accounting support to principals, bookkeepers and other applicable staff, including site visits when necessary
• Performs monthly monitoring of Student Activity Fund financial reports identifying any weaknesses and communicating with department and school administration to develop corrective action plan
• Provides guidance and assistance with year-end closing of Student Activity Fund accounting records
• Prepare annual reports on Student Activity Funds for State reporting and for external audit
• Assumes responsibility for maintenance of the Student Activity Fund Accounting Procedures Manual
• Assumes responsibility for maintenance and/or implementation of Student Activity Fund accounting software
• Compiles school-based data for the issuance of Federal Form 1099 annually
• Performs monthly Student Activity Fund bank reconciliations
• Assists fellow colleagues, accountant and executive director with day-to-day operations including:
• Phone calls/emails/faxes
• Mail distribution
• Filing
• Generating training documents/presentations
• Serving as a subject matter expert for Student Activity Funds and cost center accounting
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
• Required Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent Certification/Licensure None required Must be willing to acquire additional training as directed by manager Experience Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience working in a related field required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
• Demonstrated working knowledge of both cost center and Student Activity Fund accounting
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (in-depth knowledge of Student Activity Fund software a plus)
• Excellent keyboarding, writing, and mathematical skills
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
• Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
• Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel and work with diverse groups of people
• Must have transportation along with the ability and willingness to travel throughout the geographically large District
