Quality Specialist – Washington, PA
Dynamet Incorporated, a leading domestic and international supplier of titanium alloys, is part of Carpenter's Performance Engineered Products division. The Washington, PA facility supports aerospace, medical, consumer, and other sectors. This role focuses on advancing quality practices and ensuring high-performance manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Recommend improvements in process and product quality to increase First Time Through (FTT).
- Support the establishment of Critical to Quality measures (CTQ), Key Process Characteristics (KCC), control plans, and FMEA.
- Increase customer satisfaction by reducing claims, remakes, scrap, and deviations from standard work.
- Identify and recommend improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for critical work centers.
- Detect and resolve standard quality issues to prevent recurrence using appropriate quality strategies, tools, and techniques.
- Stabilize processes and implement statistical process controls (SPC) to maintain process capability.
- Apply inspection, measurement, and sampling methods and participate in method improvements (MSA).
- Participate in developing robust processes as part of New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; two- or four-year college degree preferred.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or quality assurance environment.
- Practical understanding of engineering principles, standards, methods, and practices.
- Experience with disciplined problem‑solving methods and tools such as check sheets, Pareto diagrams, cause‑and‑effect diagrams, control charts, histograms, and scatter diagrams.
- Ability to apply continuous improvement methods (Practical Problem Solving, Six Sigma, Lean, Error Proofing) as a team participant or facilitator.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic design and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently on straightforward assignments with coaching on complex tasks.
- Experience working in a production environment and operating a computer workstation.
