Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a part-time Specialist I, Student Development at South Campus. The role supports department clerical functions, data entry, transcript evaluation, and degree planning and graduation procedures.

Reporting to the campus leader, you will assist with student records, time cards, and advisement scheduling. Flexibility is required as schedules may vary, including evenings and weekends; up to 19.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • At least 1 year of public service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluation of student transcripts.
  • Enter transfer work and degree plan substitutions in the computer.
  • Maintain student records and files.
  • Answer visitors and phone; support clerical tasks.
  • Explain graduation procedures.

Work Hours: Flexibility is required as part-timeworkschedules may vary based on individual campus/departmentalneeds including evenings and weekends

Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a part-timeposition, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week

Job Summary:

Reporting to the assigned campus leader, the Student DevelopmentAssistant is responsible for providing assistance in the totalclerical functions of the department to include data entry, studentassistance, transcript evaluation, and degree planning andgraduation procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements
  • Assists in the evaluation of student transcripts
  • Inputs transfer work and degree plan course substitutions in thecomputer
  • Maintains student records and files
  • Orders, receives and files transcripts
  • Receives visitors and answers phone
  • Processes time cards and keeps appropriate records
  • Screens students for degree plans and advisementappointments
  • Files degree plans and other official documents
  • Maintains budget records and prepares reports
  • Explains graduation procedures
Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
  • Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege
Supervision
  • Works under the general supervision of the appropriate campusleader

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • One (1) year's working experience related to the EssentialPerformance Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience providing service to the public
Preferred Qualifications:

At least one (1) year's working experience supporting educationalprogramming on substance misuse, sexual misconduct prevention,mental health awareness, and bystander intervention

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonalrelationships
  • Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems,including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentationsoftware
