Job Description

Assists in the development and support of EHS programs and activities to continuously improve plant environmental, health, and safety standards, ensuring compliance with internal requirements and government regulations.

  1. Review OSHA safety, emergency preparedness, environmental, industrial hygiene, and hazardous material programs; implement and audit site standards for compliance.
  2. Complete EHS evaluations for new projects and equipment modifications under guidance.
  3. Learn investigation methods for employee incidents and concerns related to safety, health, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, etc.
  4. Create and maintain files, develop presentation skills, and conduct safety training (e.g., New Employee Orientation, Respirator, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding).
  5. Follow up and ensure closure of safety and health recommendations.
  6. Perform safety and environmental inspections for stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste, spill response, chemical storage, SCBA, slings, ladders, and safety compliance.
  7. Assist in coordinating hazardous material shipments and complete regulatory reporting.
  8. Serve on Safety Teams and assist in improvement activities and projects.
  9. Assist with ergonomic assessments and provide support.
  10. Conduct risk assessments and equipment surveys for safeguards, machine guarding, lockout requirements, etc.
  11. Follow up on inspection findings and hazard reports.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  13. Collaborate with the EHS team on tasks, projects, and programs.
Position Summary

Supports the development and implementation of EHS programs to enhance environmental, health, and safety standards at the plant, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current industry and regulatory trends.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems and regulations (OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, DOT).
  • First aid/CPR or other emergency response certifications.
  • Experience with OSHA VPP sites.
Education and Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Sciences, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Certifications like ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH are a plus.
  • 0-3 years of safety and environmental experience, preferably in manufacturing or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Experience working on multifunctional teams.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Work may be in office, manufacturing, outdoors, or laboratory settings.
  • Exposure to noise, chemicals, weather; must wear PPE.
  • Lifting requirements of at least 25 lbs, occasional 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk, climb ladders, stand for extended periods.
  • Support for occasional second/third shifts and weekends.
  • Travel less than 5%.
