Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Acts as a reader and/or scribe, including note-taking before, after, or in class, lab, or testing environments.

  • Attends class/lab with the student.

  • Facilitates computer and technology access as appropriate.

  • May assist with access to technology as appropriate. May describe graphics or pictures in the classroom, lab, or testing environment.

  • May assist student with object manipulation during laboratory classes as needed.

  • Ability to maintain boundaries with student as set by supervisor.

  • Ability to appropriately communicate with students, faculty, and staff. Must act in a professional manner and be dependable.

  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

  • Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.

  • Willingness to work closely with students with disabilities.

  • Proficiency with accessible software and devices.

  • May require completion of assigned college-level classes as determined by the academic department.

Knowledge

  • Processes and procedures related to the departmental work being done.

Skills
