Job summary

The 220 District Attorneys Council seeks an Assistant District Attorney in Osage County to handle serious victim-centered prosecutions, with supervision and support. The role focuses on domestic violence, sexual violence, and crimes against children, welcoming recent graduates and bar applicants.

The position offers mentoring, courtroom experience, and opportunities to work with victims, law enforcement, and advocacy partners, in a collaborative government setting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Oklahoma bar admission, eligibility for Oklahoma bar admission, or pending Oklahoma bar results.
• Demonstrated interest in criminal law, prosecution, trial advocacy, victim advocacy, domestic violence, sexual assault prosecution, crimes against children, or public service.
• Willingness to appear in court, prepare cases, try cases, and accept responsibility.
• Ability to work well with victims, witnesses, law enforcement, courthouse staff, defense attorneys, and the public.
• Highest ethical standards.
• Prior prosecution experience or related public service experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Criminal prosecutions in Osage County.
• Cases involving domestic violence, sexual violence, crimes against children, and other victim-centered offenses.
• Court appearances, dockets, plea negotiations, preliminary hearings, motion practice, sentencing hearings, and jury trials.
• Victim and witness meetings.
• Case review, charging recommendations, plea recommendations, and trial preparation.
• Review of police reports, body camera evidence, digital evidence, forensic interviews, medical records, forensic evidence, and witness statements.
• Collaboration with law enforcement, child welfare, child advocacy centers, victim advocates, and other multidisciplinary partners.
• Ethical and professional decision-making based on the law, the facts, public safety, victim interests, and the duty to seek justice.
