Job description

Leadership Academy of Nevada (LANV) is an online public charter school serving students in grades 6-12 from all over Nevada. We partner with Williamsburg Learning, and Educational Management Organization, to provide students a classical education model and emphasizes leadership, the liberal arts, and technology.

Job Description

Job purpose

The Special Projects Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of day-to-day administrative tasks and special programs such as the dual enrollment program and other student opportunities. Supports all departments as needed.

Duties and responsibilities

Serve as the primary college liaison between LANV and partner schools.

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with school administrators, counselors and teachers.

Assess and respond to the needs of LANV students and their families.

Maintain documentation on recruitment activities, prospective students, and outcome achievements; prepare monthly enrollment reports, annual reports, and regular status updates.

Work with college faculty, admissions, financial aid and counseling staff to assure a smooth transition for prospective students from inquiry to enrollment.

Assist high school students in determining college goals.

Leadership Exploration and Development (LEAD) Mentor:

  • Assist in the development of the LEAD Canvas Course
  • Review and grade student submissions
  • Communicate to students via the LEAD Canvas Course

National Honor Society Adviser

  • Ensures knowledge in and follows the guidelines of the National Honor Society.
  • Ensures that selection of members, induction of members, and continuation of members follows NHS procedures.
  • Ensures that members understand the expectations of NHS represent academic excellence with the school and serve as good role models for the student body.
  • Oversees meetings and elections of officers according to NHS guidelines.
  • Assists NHS officers with development of meeting agendas and calendar of events.
  • Supervises and ensures that service activities and other events meet national NHS and LANV guidelines/policies.
  • Continually monitors the grades and attendance of the student members to ensure that each of them meet NHS and LANV standards.
  • Provides for the safety of facilities and the safety of the students while conducting all meetings.
  • Organizes, sponsors, supervises and conducts membership meetings during the academic year.
  • Maintains accurate financial records that identify all sources of revenues and expenditures associated with NHS.

Student Ambassador (SA) Program

  • Assist the Executive Director with the Students Ambassador (SA) program
  • Ensures knowledge in and follows the guidelines of the SA program.
  • Participate in the selection of Student Ambassadors annually in the spring.
  • Ensures that Ambassadors understand the expectations and serve as good role models for the student body.
  • Supervises, attends, and help coordinate with Student Ambassadors student activities every other week.
  • Continually monitors the grades and attendance of the student members to ensure that each of them meet SA program standards.
  • Provides for the safety of facilities and the safety of the students while attending all activities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt, full-time, salary position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and as needed for student activities. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Alternative schedules may be accommodated as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications

Mid Level, 3 years in an educational setting, desired.

Nevada teacher/substitute license or the ability to obtain/maintain one, required.

Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google G-Suite.

Ability to apply expert verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to apply expert analytical, critical thinking, and judgment skills.

Ability to recognize the sensitive nature of issues and maintain confidentiality.

Ability to interpret and accurately apply written and oral instructions.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to meet predetermined deadlines.

Ability to pass a criminal history and background check in accordance with NRS 388A.515.

Ability to relate to individuals from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
