Job summary

Texas Health is inviting applications for a Special Procedures Technician in Flower Mound, TX. This full-time, day-shift role supports advanced cardiovascular imaging in a state-of-the-art Cath Lab with a collaborative team and commitment to excellent patient care.

Work location is 4400 Long Prairie Rd., Flower Mound, TX 75028. Requirements include ARRT/GMRT/RCIS/LMRT certifications, BCLS/ACLS within timelines, and 1 year radiologic or cardiovascular invasive experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology program.
  • ARRT, GMRT, RCIS, LMRT certifications due within specified timelines.
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications required within defined timelines.
  • One year Radiologic or Cardiovascular Invasive experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with complex imaging procedures and invasive cardiovascular exams under supervision.
  • Prepare exam rooms, verify orders, greet patients, and monitor during imaging.
  • Process and transfer images to PACS/HIS/RIS; maintain equipment and safety standards.

Here’s What You Need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required and
  • - Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology required or
  • - Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology required
  • - Associate Degree in Applied Science preferred
  • - One(1) year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred or
  • - One(1) year of experience as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist preferred
  • - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists(ARRT) required upon hire and
  • - General Medical Radiologic Technologist(GMRT) license required upon hire or
  • - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist(RCIS) certification required within six(6) months of hire if graduating from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program and
  • - Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist(LMRT) license required within six(6) months of hire if RCIS certified only and
  • - Basic Cardiac Life Support(BCLS) certification required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly and
  • - Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) certification required within ninety(90) days of hire
What You Will Do
  • - Uses multidisciplinary, team oriented actions; assesses and recognizes the patient’s emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions; prepares room for examination(i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies); checks physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures; greets and acknowledges patient using two forms of ID; obtains patient history; handles patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices; monitors patient during imaging; demonstrates knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment; uses proper body mechanics when assisting patient; provides assistance to the provider while administering contrast media under supervision and in accordance with regulatory code requirements; processes patient information, displays proper phone etiquette, and transports patients as needed.
  • - Explains procedures to patient or guardian/family member prior to exam; positions patient to correct anatomical area of interest; performs complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations; adjusts technique parameters appropriately for age related factors; assists physician with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique; maintains attention to details.
  • - Processes and manipulates images; analyzes image quality; troubleshoots, makes adjustments or repeats procedures as needed; utilizes proper downtime procedures for PACS and HIS/RIS; correctly sends and transfers images to PACS; downloads images from modality or PACS to CDs; postprocesses images(e.g., 3D reconstruction, annotation); coordinates with Centralized Scheduling and other modalities as necessary.
  • - Adjusts technical factors; operates and maintains equipment in compliance with TJC, DSHS, and CMS standards; applies knowledge of physics and accessories; troubleshoots and properly documents equipment malfunction; stocks supplies and inventory based on expiration dates; exchanges and maintains dosimeter badges within designated time frames.
  • - Demonstrates the knowledge of and complies with quality control and regulatory standards; employs image enhancement techniques(e.g., magnification, filtration, collimation) during procedures to improve image quality; remains productive during periods of decreased workflow.
