Primary Function/General Purpose Of Position

The Special Procedures and Cath Lab Technologist will assist the Licensed Practitioner in the completion of fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and Neuro-Interventional procedures while using sterile technique. They prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or facility policy.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs high-quality diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate the cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and venous systems, adhering to exam protocols unless deviation is clinically necessary.
• Prepares patients for procedures, explaining the procedure and providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize patient anxiety.
• Contacts referring physicians or other medical personnel for clarification prior to exams if the order is suspected to be incorrect.
• Uses the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reports, and document critical findings as per department policy.
• Completes assigned tasks promptly and efficiently.
• Demonstrates behaviors aligned with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health and complies with standards and policies, including legal and ethical guidelines.
• Follows safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality policies.
• Performs non-invasive vascular exams at proficiency level.
• Maintains knowledge of vascular anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlates lab results with other hospital procedures.

Licensing/Certification

• Certification and Registration with ARRT or CCI (required)
• BLS (required, must obtain prior to direct patient care)
• ACLS (preferred)
• Additional certifications (preferred)

Education

Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred)

Work Experience

At least 1 year in radiology, with surgery experience in CR (preferred)

Training

EPIC EHR and PACS (preferred)
