James Madison University (JMU) seeks a Coordinator of Special Population Transitions to join the Transfer Credit team. The role involves coordinating transcript receipt and review for admitted special populations, assigning credit, counseling students and advisors, and posting credits to official records within the university systems.

This full-time staff position supports diverse student populations, including athletes, adult degree seekers, military students, and international students.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to handle and prioritize a large volume of work.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
• Ability to work independently but seek guidance as needed.
• Ability to serve constituents in a personable and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate receipt/review of transcripts for admitted special populations (Student Athletes, Adult Degree, Military, RN to BSN, international).
• Review course descriptions and consult with departments to assign credit to a JMU equivalent course.
• Counsel prospective students and advisors on transfer policies.
• Post credit to matriculated students’ official record in the student system.
• Coordinate transfer credit requests for continuing special population students.
• Assist in updating the Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide using the Transfer Evaluation System.
• Support the Veterans Benefits Team by analyzing prior learning credits and reporting enrollment within VA's Enrollment Manager system.
