Job summary

The Protestant-Episcopal-Cathedral-Foundation- is seeking a Special Police Officer to safeguard the Foundation community, properties, and visitors across its campuses, including the National Cathedral School and Washington National Cathedral.

The role emphasizes proactive patrols, emergency response, event security, and enforcing policies, with training and communications duties, coordinating with MPD, and ensuring public safety across the PECF properties.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year experience in police/security roles.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office.
• Ability to obtain MPD commission as Special Police Officer.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Must pass background, driving, and reference checks.
• Must qualify with .9MM handgun.
• Must pass physical and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Proactive foot/vehicle/bicycle patrol of designated areas.
• Respond to calls for service including escorts, unlocks, transports, and traffic assistance.
• Respond to emergencies including crime, accidents, medical, fires, and alarms.
• Provide information and assist the public.
• Provide security at events and functions.
• Perform fire/life safety checks and equipment inspection.
• Document activities in the records management system.
