Job summary

Geneva County Schools seeks a Bus Aide to assist in transporting exceptional students or students with handicaps in a safe, efficient and timely manner. The role supports the bus driver, ensures proper seating and health-related needs, and follows safety procedures and policies.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and training or experience with handicapped children; background clearance is required. Strong communication with students, parents, and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience or training working with handicapped or exceptional children.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and state Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with safe loading and unloading of students.
• Enforce safety rules for students.
• Monitor student behavior.
• Administer to the individual needs of the students as required.
• Escort student to class or office if needed.
• Assist driver with keeping bus clean and with supplies on the bus.
• Ensure students are secured and monitor safety equipment.
• Learn evacuation procedures and assist students and driver as necessary.
