A leading company in geotechnical engineering seeks a Special Inspector for their Spokane location. This role involves conducting field observations and material testing to ensure compliance with building codes and specifications. Ideal candidates will have relevant certifications and strong communication skills. STRATA offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees working over 30 hours per week.
STRATA provides clients with professional geotechnical engineering as well as construction inspection and materials testing services. We have served the intermountain west for over 40 years. Currently, STRATA has offices located in Boise, Hayden, Twin Falls, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Spokane, Washington. We currently have a Special Inspector position open in our Spokane, Washington location
Position Description
TheSpecial Inspectoris responsible for conducting field construction observation and material testing to confirm compliance with local building codes, project specifications, and project contracts.
Collect samples and perform specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control tests on construction materials and building components per AASHTO, ATM, and IBC standards.
Compile detailed records of observations, inspections, and test results. Report results in a timely, accurate manner.
Use, maintain, and calibrate various field and laboratory testing equipment.
Assist and support laboratory testing in accordance with the Quality Management Systems (QMS), project requirements, and national standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, IBC, etc.).
Position Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have an American Concrete Institute (ACI) and/or International Code Council (ICC) certification in concrete field testing, soils, reinforce concrete, and/or post-tensioned concrete plus 1-3 years' previousSpecial Inspectorexperience..
Candidates will be proactive, use a team approach to problem solving, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to operate a basic computer to prepare accurate and timely reports..

Must be willing to travel to remote project locations and arrive at the job site on time. The work schedule/hours will vary based upon the project and location.
Position requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferredqualifications include: American Welding Society (AWS) certification, structural masonry, spray applied fireproofing, fire penetration / fire stops, structural bolting, structural steel welding and non-destructive testing. Basic use of Microsoft Teams software.
