Job summary

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) seeks a Certified Special Inspector in our Charlotte, NC office. The role demands 2–5 years of relevant testing experience and active certifications in ICC, ACI, NICET, AWS/CWI, or ASNT.

The candidate will inspect, sample, and test construction, coordinate with clients and project managers, and document field activities. Responsibilities include leading inspections, reporting, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring compliance with plans and specs.

Qualifications

• ICC Certifications (Soils, Masonry, Fireproofing, Structural Steel Welding, Structural Steel Bolting, Reinforced Concrete, etc.)
• ACI CCS or Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I, ACI/CRSI Certificate for Post-Installed Concrete Anchor Installation Inspector
• Special Inspection of Firestopping
• P.E., E.I.T, P.G., G.I.T.
• NICET Levels I-IV (Geotechnical or Soils Certificate)
• AWS or CWI
• ASNT Level II or III
• 2-5 years of relevant testing experience
• Reliable transportation and valid driver\'s license
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unaided and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe

• Verify construction is being completed in accordance with all plans and specifications

• Contribute to the generation of technical reports and special inspection summaries
• Oversee, train, and mentor junior/less-experienced staff

SPECIAL INSPECTOR REQUIREMENTS:

At least one of the following:

1. ICC Certifications (Soils, Masonry, Fireproofing, Structural Steel Welding, Structural Steel Bolting, Reinforced Concrete, etc.)
2. ACI Certified Construction Special Inspector (CCS), ACI CCS, ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I, ACI/CRSI Certificate for Post-Installed Concrete Anchor Installation Inspector.
3. Special Inspection of Firestopping

At least one of the following:

1. P.E., E.I.T, P.G., G.I.T.
2. NICET Level I, II, III or IV (Geotechnical Engineering Technology Construction)
3. NICET Level I, II, III, or IV (Soils Certificate in Construction Materials Testing)
4. AWS or CWI
5. American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) Level II or III

• 2 - 5 years of relevant testing experience required
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unaided and up to 100 lbs. with assistance; frequent bending, hammering and other repetitious movements
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe
