Job summary

Hunter Museum of American Art is seeking a part-time, hourly events assistant to support special events. You will help with setup, serving beverages, and breakdown, while ensuring guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with set up and break down of equipment during special events.
  • Serve as a special events bartender for private and public events.
  • Pull bar products for events and track usage with catering staff.
  • Provide friendly, attentive guest service throughout events.
  • Interact with guests and support museum clients to enhance the experience.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions and proper recycling during events.
  • Follow safety procedures for staff, guests, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with caterers and vendors to meet museum guidelines.
  • Address issues during events promptly and professionally.
  • Support internal and external events across departments.

Job description

The Hunter Museum of American Art seeks a customer service oriented, team player to ensure guest satisfaction during special events and to assist with event needs such as setting up, breaking down, serving food and beverages, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with set up and break down of equipment used during special events as needed.
  • Serve as a special events bartender for private and public events.
  • Properly pull bar product for private and Museum events as well as record accurate amount of bar products taken and returned from catering kitchen after Museum events.
  • Use customer service skills to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Interact with and assist guests during private events or Museum internal events.
  • Clean and place materials for recycling in the proper containers and take trash to the dumpster at the end of each event.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and procedures for staff, guests, and vendors.
  • Work closely with caterers, vendors, and fellow special event staff to ensure quality and adhesion to Museum guidelines during all events.
  • Solve any problem that might occur during an event at the Museum.
  • Interact and share information with our clients to ensure an educational and enjoyable experience.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of facilities before, during and after special events.
  • Work with various departments to assist with both internal and external events.
Key Qualifications
  • Must have a valid ABC license and driver’s license
  • Bartending experience preferred; knowledge of bartending tools, batching, and craft/custom cocktail creation
  • General housekeeping and grounds keeping skills
  • Food service experience preferred
  • Ability to take direction and to work as part of a team
  • Ability to stand for 3-5 hours at a time, lift and transport objects up to 40 lbs.

Part-time, hourly ($18.00/hour); Must be able to work a flexible schedule of primarily evenings and weekends, with occasional holiday hours. On call availability for emergencies required. Must provide a minimum availability of 3 shifts per month. Must be available for all mandatory events yearly (Terrace at Twilight, Spectrum, etc. 4 events annually).
