Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a Special Educator for Resource Room positions across Nassau County, NY. Roles may be part-time with fee-for-service or full-time depending on caseload and interview discussions. Compensation is $60/hour with benefits for 25+ hours weekly.

Responsibilities include direct instruction aligned to IEPs, progress reporting, and collaboration with other professionals. Sessions vary by IEP mandates (e.g., 1×30 min, 5×45 min).

Qualifications

• NYS Students with Disabilities Certification K-6, 7-12 ( NYS SWD All Grades or Permanent Preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year experience in settings supporting children and families preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
• Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
• Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
• Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
• Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation within required timelines.
• Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs and accommodations.
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
• Maintain professional communication with families, school administrators, and related service providers.
• Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom routines.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
