Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a Teaching Associate: Special Education for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports students with and without disabilities in the classroom and activities, under the supervision of the Special Education teacher, building principal and district leadership.

Requirements include a Professional Educator License or ROE substitute license, ISBE paraprofessional license with hours or degree, and required clearances.

Qualifications

• Professional Educator License or ROE substitute license.
• Paraprofessional license with 60 college hours or an Associate's degree, or pass ACT WorkKeys/ETS Paraprofessional.
• Board-approved alternatives may apply.
• Pre-employment medical exam and TB clearance.
• FBI background/fingerprint clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing a well-organized educational environment.
• Support students with and without disabilities within instructional and activity settings.
• Follow direction of assigned Special Education teachers and building administrators.

Education

Professional Educator License OR Substitute License from ROE

Paraprofessional License through ISBE

60 college hours OR Associate's degree OR pass ACT WorkKeys/ETS Paraprofessional

Alternatives deemed appropriate by Board of Education

Pre-employment medical exam including tuberculosis clearance

Fingerprint/Background clearance including FBI
