Job summary

Eastchester Union Free School District seeks a Teaching Assistant, Probationary, at Eastchester Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the direct supervision of a certified special education teacher, you will help implement instructional programs to meet students’ individualized goals and reinforce learning for both students with special needs and general education peers.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to assist with mathematics, reading, and language arts instruction.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce skills in reading, language arts, mathematics, and other curricular areas.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and support differentiated instruction.
• Assist with classroom preparation and instructional strategies to reinforce materials and skills for individual needs and IEP goals.
• Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and behavior management to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Assist with student management, routines, transitions, and keeping students engaged and on task.
• Assist with record keeping and data collection to document progress as directed.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and access to instruction.
• Supervise students in non-instructional settings including lunch, hallways, and dismissal, and accompany on field trips.
