Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking probationary Teaching Assistants to support classroom teachers with instructional and management tasks. This probationary role may lead to tenure and requires collaboration with students and staff.

Responsibilities include supporting individual or small groups, collecting progress data, and assisting with instructional materials. Strong communication skills and familiarity with tech tools are preferred. Training and supervision follow district guidelines.

Qualifications

• New York State TA certification I-III or Special Education teacher certification required.
• Experience with special education students with a wide range of needs.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Experience providing small group instruction in academic areas preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups on special instructional projects under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Provide the classroom teacher with information about students to assist in developing appropriate learning experiences.
• Collect student data and monitor progress toward IEP goals where appropriate.
• Assist students in using instructional resources and in developing instructional materials.
• Assist the classroom teacher with related instructional work as required.
• In the absence of the classroom teacher, assume all instructional duties.
