Job summary

Nassau BOCES in New York is seeking probationary Teaching Assistants to support classroom teachers in pedagogical and classroom management tasks. This position is probationary and eligible for tenure.

The role involves working with individual students or small groups on instructional projects under the direction of the classroom teacher, with data collection to monitor IEP goals where appropriate. Strong communication skills and familiarity with Google Classroom and MS Office are preferred.

Qualifications

• Active NYS Certification as Teaching Assistant I, II or III or Special Education Teacher Certification.
• Experience working with special education students with diverse needs.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Experience providing small group instruction is preferred.
• Familiarity with Google Classroom and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with instructional activities and management tasks.
• Work with individual students or small groups on instructional projects.
• Provide data and progress information to support IEP goals.
• Assist with instructional materials and use of available resources.
• In the absence of the teacher, assume instructional duties.
