Dover Middle School is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead a program for students with social-emotional and behavioral needs in Dover, New Hampshire. The role focuses on providing targeted instruction, skill building, and social-emotional support in a comprehensive educational plan.

You will collaborate with teachers and families, monitor progress for IEP services, ensure compliance, and apply trauma-informed practices to foster positive student relationships.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in special education or related field.
Must hold appropriate NH certification.
Experience working with students with social-emotional/behavioral need.
NH DOE Certification: General Special Education.
Master degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

Lead a program for students with social-emotional/behavioral needs.
Provide a continuum of services including skill building, social skills groups, and specially designed academic instruction.
Teach core social-emotional skills such as self-regulation, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and executive functioning.
Implement instruction and interventions through coaching, modeling, and application across settings.
Work collaboratively with teachers and families to facilitate open communication and problem-solving.
Contribute to data-driven progress monitoring and decision-making to inform IEP services and supports.
Complete special education case management responsibilities such as IEP preparation, evaluations, progress monitoring, meeting participation, etc.
Foster positive student relationships through trauma-informed practices and approaches.
