Job summary

The Menta Education Group is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Menta Academy Northwest in Machesney Park, IL. You will educate a small self-contained classroom of about 10 students, in a setting that blends social-emotional learning with inquiry-based academics.

IL PEL with LBS1 or PEL General Education with willingness to obtain LBS1 is required. You will collaborate with curriculum and clinical staff, provide differentiated instruction, and support students with behavioral and academic

Qualifications

• IL PEL with LBS1 or PEL General Education Certification; out-of-state applicants must apply for IL certification
• Must be flexible to teach multiple grade levels as student populations change
• Ability to teach a classroom of students within all basic instructional areas
• Ability to work with youth with emotional/behavioral/academic difficulties
• Ability to be flexible, work in teams and creatively problem solve
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively

Responsibilities

• Teach all subjects in a classroom setting
• Provide a differentiated learning environment
• Work collaboratively with staff, including curriculum and clinical staff to yield positive results for the students
• Gain support on-campus from other teachers, administrators, curriculum staff, clinical staff, and various support staff
• Provide a social-emotional learning environment
• Have a classroom size of around 10 students with paraprofessional support in the classroom
