Job summary

Academy for Advancement of Children with Autism (AACA) in California seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our multidisciplinary team. You will develop and implement IEPs, collaborate with support staff and families, and apply evidence-based strategies to support positive behavior and learning.

Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30AM-3:30PM. The ideal candidate will have a Special Education credential, experience with severe behavioral needs, and a commitment to nurturing each student’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) required.
• Experience working with students with severe behavioral needs strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of ABA principles, de-escalation strategies, and individualized supports.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP goals.
• Use behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports effectively.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and behavior specialists.
• Track and document student progress and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress.
• Foster a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and professional development activities.
