Special Education Teacher – Vocational/Transition (Grades 9‑12)

Pay: $53,053 – $60,480.42 annually for Special Education Certified (SPED) teachers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a student‑centered approach to instruction.
• Participate in reflective professional development.
• Meet IEP/Treatment Plan requirements by contributing data‑based present levels, accommodations, modifications and transitional elements.
• Integrate multi‑modality instructional approaches into lesson planning and delivery to meet diverse learning styles.
• Prioritize and promote a safe and secure learning environment through social‑emotional learning.
• Collaborate formally and informally with Teaching Assistants, OT/Speech Therapists, Social Workers, Nursing, Behavior Specialists and school leaders.
• Implement PBIS campus approaches (5:1 praise to corrective feedback ratio) with high fidelity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required (Master’s preferred).
• Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certificate required.
• Three years of educational experience preferred.
• Special education experience preferred.
