Job summary

The State of Michigan, Michigan Department of Corrections, is seeking a Special Education teacher to coordinate services for eligible students and to teach ABE/GED reading, math and writing within Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility. This position is located inside a secure facility and includes developing schedules and maintaining reports.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in special education or a related field and a Michigan teaching certificate with a special education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in special education or a field of K-12 education.
• Possession of a Michigan teaching certificate with a special education endorsement in autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, learning disabilities, physical education for students with disabilities, physical or other health impairment, speech and language impairment, and/or visual impairment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery of special education services, resources, schedules and reports for special education eligible students.
• Teach ABE/GED students reading, math and writing skills.
• Work location is inside the secure perimeter of a multi-level institution.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor and Education Manager.
