Job summary

The Day School at The Children’s Institute, in Squirrel Hill, PA, seeks a Special Education Teacher to collaborate with classroom teams, behavioral specialists, therapists, school districts, and families to deliver individualized academic and behavioral programs.

You will identify student needs from assessments, develop strategies, implement appropriate curricula, monitor progress, and maintain regular family communication to support student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in special education.
• One year successful experience in a special education setting.
• Current special education certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Act 73 FBI, State Act 34-Criminal, and State Act 33-Child Abuse Clearances.
• Current and valid CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with classroom team, behavioral specialists, occupational, speech, and physical therapists, school districts, and families to develop, implement, and monitor individualized academic and behavioral programming.
• Identifies students’ needs based on assessments and prior reports and sets appropriate goals and educational activities.
• Develops individualized strategies and interventions; uses curricula resources at The Children’s Institute.
• Maintains regular communication with families regarding classroom activities and student performance.
