Job summary

Brightway Living & Learning is seeking a Special Education Teacher MA/MS for our School Age Program in Smithtown, NY. This on-site, full-time role offers a salary range of $52,000–$85,000 per year and requires a Master’s in Special Education with NYS certification.

You will educate individuals with developmental disabilities in an ungraded self-contained classroom, supported by BCBA staff and a full training program.

Qualifications

• Must possess a master’s degree and NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals is preferred.
• Interest in working with developmentally disabled individuals is required.
• Must possess good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up classroom, structure schedule, and maintain program books and data collection for IEPs.
• Develop and implement behavior management systems and reinforcement schedules.
• Plan and implement a daily structured program to meet IEP goals.
• Prepare and maintain attendance, lesson plans, progress reports, and records.
• Communicate progress with parents/CRP via meetings and notes.
• Attend trainings, meetings, and ensure compliance with program policies.
• Ensure materials and environmental modifications needed for IEPs are available.
